Ruby Knight - Veterinary Nurse
Certificate II Animal Studies
Certificate III Animal Studies
Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing
Ever since Ruby was young, she has always had animals in her life. Coming to the realisation only in 2010 that she wanted to pursue a career in the animal industry, Ruby studied Animal Studies Cert II & III at TAFE in Sydney. This is where her passion started to grow into something that would one day get her where she is today, a vet nurse. Ruby has had several jobs in the animal industry ranging from animal attendant to dog groomer to pet sitter to dog walker and even working in one of Sydney’s biggest pounds. After realising that maybe the “big smoke” wasn’t her scene anymore Ruby moved back to Port Macquarie in 2017 after 8 years in Sydney.
Once Ruby had returned she decided to look into doing Vet Nursing Cert IV and applied only a week before the course started. Ruby did her training in 2018 at Port Vet and graduated TAFE in December 2018. From there, she stayed on as a casual vet nurse and has been here ever since.
In her personal life, you would find her chilling at home watching TV while crafting, out and about catching up with friends or spending time with her beloved fur family consisting of her dog, Kya, and her three cats Lita, Luna and Callie.
Ruby is the clinic’s resident “Crazy Cat Lady’ as she always manages to make friends with any cat that walks through our door. She is always up for a kitty cuddle (puppies are welcome too) and is the first one in line to do a kitty nail clip! Ruby loves chatting to clients about their pets and sharing as many cat photos as she can!
